  • The need to combine high storage density, service continuity and geometric control of the load units

1. Automated system with stacker cranes and satellite shuttles

To handle these heavy coils, the solution adopts an architecture based on automated stacker cranes fitted with a satellite shuttle. This configuration operates in multi-depth mode while maintaining precise travel paths, even where load unit diameters vary.

2. High-density coil storage configuration

  • The automated coil storage system is built around cantilever arms fitted with inclined cradle tubes, sized to accommodate coils of different diameters.
  • The satellite shuttle moves coils in depth within the same aisle, increasing storage density.

3. Structural control and system precision

  • Modulblok developed a technical solution based on a support tube running along the depth of the lane, which controls deformation of the guide rails.
  • This makes it possible to preserve movement accuracy, hold tight tolerances even under heavy loads, and ensure the dynamic stability of the system. The solution avoids any increase in rail thickness, reducing weight, inertia and cost.
