Key objectives
King Inox (King S.p.A.) is a leading distributor of stainless steel fastening systems. Active since 1968 and present across Europe, the company offers a range of more than 25,000 SKUs and holds around 7,000 tonnes of stock. Objectives:
- manage a high number of small-format SKUs
- combine pallet storage with picking operations
- ensure fast access to load units
- optimise warehouse organisation
- improve efficiency in picking operations
Technical requirements and constraints
In an environment defined by a wide product mix, highly fragmented load units and the need to handle pallet storage and picking side by side, the logistics system has to deliver accessibility, order and operational continuity.
- handling of products that vary widely in size and type
- the need to combine pallet storage with manual picking
- use of reach trucks and order pickers
- organisation across multiple storage levels
- varying levels of accessibility between operating levels
Our solution
Key features
1. Pallet racking for multi-level storage
Modulblok designed a pallet racking system configured to handle both full pallets and manual picking across multiple levels.

2. Integrating picking and pallet storage
- The configuration provides for manual picking from ground level up to the 4th level, with full pallet storage on the levels above.
- This arrangement keeps the two operating logics separate while maintaining continuity across the flows.

2. Operations with dedicated trucks
- The system is served by reach trucks for pallet storage and order pickers for picking operations.
- This configuration allows operations to be managed separately according to the level and the type of load unit.

Warehouse Engineering is the Modulblok magazine dedicated to the industrial culture of contemporary intralogistics — an editorial space created to read and interpret the changes now reshaping warehouse systems. Through technical content, scenario analysis and expert contributions, the magazine examines the technologies, operating models and skills that are redefining the role of logistics in industrial and distribution processes. The aim is to offer a structured way of reading these developments, one that connects technological change with the design of the systems themselves.
